Getting into graffiti on Staten Island in the early 90′s, SCOPE 2 was one of the most influential style writers to come from this segregated area of New York City. Known for his segment in Video Graff 2 with Mars & Take 5 shot in 1990, Scope has decided to come back out after several years of retirement. It was a real honor to get to paint with him after all these years.
When trying to think of a phrase to write between Scope and I, I came up with “American Accent… A’yo”. It’s a reference to both of us being based out west with seemingly out of place New York accents. That in combination with my steady use of American Accents paint in the early to mid 90′s.
On a side note, having a thick (American) accent seems a bit odd to some in California. A few months back I started speaking with this lady about something. Before I could finish my second sentence she cuts me off saying “wait, are you South African or something?”…
